Since the song isn’t in chronological order it’s meaningless. Just a bunch of random words to a tune. The others who commented are correct in saying major newsworthy events were missed. This song could have been great, a worthy successor to Billy Joel’s original. Instead, craptastic. What a missed opportunity.

Love how this song has been updated with current events. Don’t mind that some things are out of order and that some things have been omitted - I mean how many of us REALLY want to be reminded of Covid in a song? Hope this song is revamped again in 30 or so years.

From the way he sings it, you can tell he only listened to the original once or twice. The major sin here is that the original was a chronological walk through the years from Joel's birth to the current year in order. This is a mishmash of stuff thrown against the wall. There's zero heart or soul in the song. It would be cool to have a continuation of the lyric from 1989-2023, but this is as bad an attemps as you could imagine. And do something different with the music. Acoustic guitar and vocal only. Reggae. Full on hip-hop (which was the original concept for the song). But not this bottom-of-the-barrel probably-written-in-a-half-hour and played-once version.
