Three studio albums in, is anyone surprised that this new Ashley McBryde album is loaded top to bottom with gems? Me neither. Ashley has an all-time knack for writing about anything she wants to while staying authentically true to herself. Her wide array of musical influences means there’s something for everyone - as a metalhead, I gravitate towards the heavier, rock driven songs (The Devil I Know, Blackout Betty) but you really can’t go wrong with anything on here. In a world where mainstream country has become formulaic and predictable, Ashley McBryde is a breath of fresh air and a reminder that real country music is alive and well.

This album is a masterpiece. If it doesn’t win gobs of awards, the system is broken. I love the emotional journey and rawness of it, too. As always, the storytelling, lyrical selection and her voice are on point. Will be on repeat for the foreseeable future.
