Each album captures my heart and this newest is no exception. The stark beauty is both comforting and heartbreaking at the same time. I wouldn’t expect any less from this once in a generation artist. I’m thankful our timelines overlapped, that we are similar in age and seemingly facing our mortality in much the same way. Thank you, Mr. Isakov and the fellow musicians at your side.

After about 4 listens, I’ve fully realized that this is yet another masterpiece from the gift to earth that is Gregory Alan Isakov. After my first listen I wasn’t sure this was at the same uncanny level as the Weatherman or Evening Machines, but after a few listens at different times of day and in different settings, I know now it truly reaches those same heights. The song Mistakes is quite literally heaven touching earth. Other favorites include Terlingua, and actually all of them. Can’t wait to catch 2 of his shows next week and hear this live. Btw to anyone who actually reads this, if you haven’t seen this man live, it is necessary for your health that you do whatever you gotta do to see him in concert.

Gregory’s art just has a way of making everything feel beautiful and alright, even though there’s an underlying thread of pain and loneliness to his music. I think that’s why it appeals so much to so many people. He takes a feeling we can all relate to, and turns it into magic. I love each of these songs, but my favorites are The Fall, Before the Sun, Silver Bell, Watchman, One Day … I literally could list every single one on this album. No song is skippable.

The second song of this new album literally just dropped and once again I find myself with his songs on repeat in my truck just out driving around even at midnight. Gregory’s songs resonate with me in a way no other artist has and this new album is right on par. Thank you sir.
