It's about time that Apple added Olivia Newton-John's "The Rumour" to Apple Music. I have been waiting years for Apple to add this album. Even though I already have The Rumour on CD, I'm just glad to see it on Apple Music. In my honest opinion, The Rumour is a way better album than Physical, Soul Kiss, and Warm and Tender. The songs that stand out are Big and Strong, Walk Through Fire, Love and Let Live, Let's Talk about Tomorrow, Tutta La Vita, and, of course, The Rumour. Olivia's voice really shines through on this album. Adieu, Olivia. Rest in Heaven my sweet angel ! Thank you for leaving us this wonderfully exceptional, brillant, and beautiful album !

I think Music was evolving to something totally different. But Olivia sang about AIDS in Love and let live, and about the environment with Let’s talk about tomorrow. Her voice and look at this time were stunning. I loved this album but didn’t do as well as her previous. Listen on a good sound system and I think you’ll be amazed.

This is fantastic album and my second favorite from Olivia, after "Physical." The original concept of the album, from what I've read, was to showcase women from different walks of life and different points of view. That is definitely there in songs like "It's Not Heaven," which is about single motherhood, and "Get Out," a song about a woman who brings home the bacon while her husband is at home. There are also songs with messages that were important to Olivia at the time "Love and Let Live," which is about AIDS, and "Let's Talk About Tomorrow," which is about the need to protect the environment. Top it off with an Elton John penned and produced single, "The Rumour," and you get one of Olivia's strongest albums. The general public did not pick up on it and they really missed out. Olivia's voice is in fine form and the production serves her well with mature and thoughtful songs. There is no trend chasing here. No forced sexuality to compete wtih the likes of Madonna, who owned radio back then; just strong, thoughtful songs from an artist who had things to say but nothing to prove.

In 1988 Olivia Newton-John released The Rumour. It should have been a huge hit but it was not meant to be. The title track by Bernie Taupin and Elton John is a wonderful song and I had it on repeat back in the day. The rest of the album is just as good. One of Olivia's best.
