Kristian Matsson is a do it yourself musician. He is now publishing under his own label, recording and mixing his own music. I fell in love with this album on YouTube in the When the Bird sees the Solid Ground and the Light in videos. Of course I was happy to hear some brand new songs as well; I’ll Be a Sky has been on repeat in my car for about a month. Maybe I’ll get tired of it, but maybe not.

...the man’s guitar playing. His finger work is AMAZING. I never particularly enjoyed the whine he put into his singing voice though. In this album however, he’s brought his tone down a couple notches and tempered his voice a bit. It sounds so good.

This man just keeps producing.. saw him the other night in Madison Wi and it was literally one of the best performances I’ve ever seen. Highly recommend seeing this man live. The new album is really good imo.. beautiful songs pouring straight out from his heart.
don't lose sight of guitar work

TMOE is all those things that people say, genuine, emotion-driving, Bob-Dylan/Paul Simon etc. but please don't ignore the difficulty of some of the guitar work. He's basically playing a classical guitar in a banjo style with complex tunings and fingerings. He's a guitar savant who sings well and writes beautifully.

Yes, the Tallest Man takes me back to a time when I found new voices (thanks to the Beatles), voices like Donovan, Tom Rush, Gordon Lightfoot, Ian Tyson, and of course Bob Dylan. This time, in this place, this man carries on that tradition, following in the those footsteps but also continuing on a path set by Paul Simon, Cat Stevens, and James Taylor. They wrote and sang with meaning and soul, and so does The Tallest Man on Earth.
