This album is a masterpiece from start to finish. I encourage everyone to give this album at least one listen. Limousine still chokes me up every time I listen to it. The essential emo album perfect for autumn. Enjoy

There is a saying that Brand New is essentially a brand new band with every album and this holds true to this outing especially. Only the vestiges of Emo remain in this Rock masterpiece that leans more towards the Alternative and Post-Hardcore genres. In The Devil & God, the band sheds its skin of teenage heartbreak and life disappointing as a young adult and delves deeper into more philosophical themes and spiritual loss. This album focuses on not just the loss of a girlfriend or friend in a social or emotional sense, but the loss of those you love in an ultimate physical sense as well as a loss of yourself along the way. It’s about trying to find your way in a world that’s always trying to change you and trying not to lose sight of the ideal form of yourself. Even if you’ll never be perfect or even close to it, this album is about trying to be a better person and failing and trying again. It’s about being human and trying to cope with that ever inescapable fact.

Absolute beauty, start to finish. An album about dealing with the demons inside and out and trying to somehow find redemption through the anger. “Luca” and “Welcome to Bangkok” are on constant repeat while “Jesus Christ” cranks out the frustration we all feel when being tested. One of their best, if not the best.
