I truly adore Christopher Tin's compositions. From his individual songs, like the spellbinding Baba Yetu and The Storm-Driven Sea, an epic choral theme to rival Duel of the Fates, to the complex, dynamic themes woven through Calling All Dawns and The Drop That Contained The Sea, all of his music has a peculiar quality to it: it gets better every time you listen to it. There always seems to be a new subtlety to uncover, and it's food for the soul. This song is no exception. Individually, Baba Yetu is probably still my favorite. The passion of the soloists combined with the glorious melody makes it a masterpiece, and I love the way Tin uses the song to weave the diverse Calling All Dawns into a cohesive unit. But I find myself coming back to Sogno di Volare. It's beautiful, and, like Baba Yetu, there's an element to it that touches the soul. Listening to it, I feel a patriotism for planet Earth that I have not felt so intensely since I first heard Baba Yetu. And moreover, everytime I hear it, I like it more. In short, you may or may not like it more than Baba Yetu. But this is absolutely worth the $2 it takes to buy.

Christopher Tin doesn't disappoint. I've always been a fan of the Civilization franchise, and I fell in love with the theme he wrote for the 4th installment, Baba Yetu. When I heard he was returning for Civ VI, I was thrilled, I actually went and looked at some of his other music, and ended buying Calling All Downs. Having listened to that album numerous times over the past couple months, I'm thrilled to add this to the collection. A truly great follow up to Baba Yetu. I read somewhere on Facebook comparing the two songs in a way I find to be spot on. Baba Yetu celebrates our past and how far we have come as humanity, as civilization. Sogno di Volare looks with hope to our future and all our human civilization is going to accomplish.
