Description

Neal (Aaron Stanford) will be a rockstar, Miss Pussy Katz (Zooey Deschanel) will be an art legend, and they will live forever in an Airstream trailer pulled by an El Dorado convertible. This isn't a dream – it's a plan. And Neal might have the goods for it. But he'll never know, because he spends way too much time working at Flakes, a bohemian cereal shop in New Orleans. It's very cool. And the most dead-end job in history. When a junior capitalist opens a rip-off version of Flakes right across the street, it means war for Neal. He gets sucked further and further in until Miss Pussy Katz realizes that to save their dreams, she must liberate Neal from his obsession. But even in victory, she sees that Neal will never live up to his promise. And when she finally gives up, it's Neal's turn to save the dream in this offbeat indie comedy from IFC.

The reason to see this movie, is because of ZOOEY DESCHONEL! OTHER THAN THAT IT'S JUST...ALRIGHT. THE PRICE SHOULD GO DOWN TO MABYE 9 BUX AT THE MOST

Mostly all about cereal. Honestly. If you like the actors then you might enjoy this. It wasn't amazing and it wasn't bad. Pretty mellow movie.

Everything comes together in a neat independent comedy package in Flakes. This film is probably one of the best movies I've seen and its all because of the amazing way that everything fits. The writing, directing, acting, everything falls right into place from the moment it pops up on your screen. A quick classic for anyone who likes a good laugh and a great story. Worth every penny.
  • Great Film, but the Price Should Be Lower

Flakes is a great movie starring Zooey Deschanel, Aaron Stanford and amazingly Christopher Lloyd. While Deschanel and Stanford work well together, the main reason I found this movie to be great is Christopher Lloyd. As the hippie owner of a Louisiana cereal bar who rants about "Battle Creek," reminded me of his earlier roles. Should either be watched with The Breakfast Club and/or The Road to Wellville. The only complaint is the price. If I can buy the movie elsewhere for $10, why should I pay $15+ on iTunes? Thank you.

  • As a Zooey lover...

The movie seems to have a hard time deciding if it's supposed to be a quirky indie feelgood flick or a coming of age comedy; while achieving neither in the process. The main character comes off as grating while Zooey's talents are wasted. Christopher Lloyd is occasionally fun to watch but seems like more of a bit part with no development. Throughout, I found myself feeling more for the main antagonist than the protaganist. The actor who plays Neil Downs reminds me of an angst filled Mike Bolton from Office Space. If they had flipped the story and made Zooey Deschanel the main character then we'd have a real movie on our hands. The 2 stars are both for Zooey, who certainly did not get enough lines or character development.

This is definitely one of my favorite movies. Perfect for anyone who loves cereal, music, art, and Zooey Deschanel (she's my favorite actress). My only problem would be that it is $14.99...

This is not a big budget flashy Hollywood movie and if that's what you are into then this movie is not for you. But if you are looking for a light hearted movie with a good story and interesting characters that is an absolute joy to watch, then get this one. Christopher Lloyd plays a perfect role and Zooey, as always, shines a unique and irresistible character you will love. I just wish I had bought it instead of renting it; I would love to watch it again.
