Description

Renowned Marine Biologist, OCEAN RAMSEY (aka “The Shark Whisper”), credits her unparalleled connection with sharks to over a decade of research. However, others are convinced it is something more… Join Ocean as she and a small team of marine biologists travel the globe in the hopes of bringing to light the beauty of sharks. Ocean gives expert advice about what to do if you come face to face with a shark, and provides insight on changing our perceptions in time to combat the looming extinction of the species.

This “documentary” passes up the opportunity to provide anything insightful, informative, or even just interesting about the advertised subject of the film. Instead, it’s true focus is on how amazingly wonderful the human subjects are...and there’s plenty of footage devoted to making that point. Self-absorbed and self-promotional.

I want to thank everyone making saving sharks their life mission. We need more of you. This film is beautiful. It is full of beautiful, graceful sharks and the beautiful, graceful Ocean swimming next to them. It is both inspiring and discouraging. While some of the content may be disturbing for younger viewers, I think it is important for the younger generations to see it. Allow them to be disturbed by the images of sharks being savagely murdered for an unnecessary commodity. The youth of today will be the change this world needs. The ocean and all its creatures need and truly deserve our protection and respect. Developing that respect in the younger generations today will benefit the world as they will be the leaders who will support the conservation efforts of tomorrow. Side note: Want to sign up for scuba lessons soon!

This film has become the next important film to watch regarding Shark & Ocean Conservation. Raising awareness from the perspective of a shark biologist and photographer, they (Ocean Ramsey & Juan Oliphant) team up to spread the beauty of sharks by hosting shark dives (at One Ocean Diving in Oahu) and performing research on shark behavior in the area during each dive. They shed light on the gross decline in shark populations due to shark finning and fishing. They share their beauty in the wild while exposing the ugliness of human behavior for survival, which will hopefully changing the way people view sharks. Beautifully directed and composed by Keoni Tetawa Bowthorpe, a must see!!!!

I thought I had enough of sharks after my daughter had ‘baby shark’ on repeat for weeks, but I’m glad I gave this movie a shot. The footage and information is eye opening. Definitely worth a watch! Let’s make every week, Shark week.

Very eye opening, wish I had seen this growing up. I have never seen sharks in this light, its facinating. It is shocking to hear the number of sharks being killed for their fins.

With its astonishing footage and illuminating insights, Saving Jaws poignantly turns the narrative we've been told about sharks on its head. Well worth a watch!
