Description

Mads Mikkelsen (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, Doctor Strange) delivers an engrossing tour-de-force performance as Overgård, a resourceful yet increasingly desperate man stranded in a remote, snow-covered wilderness. After a plane crash in an icy wasteland, Overgård must live by his wits as he waits for help to arrive. But when a long-awaited rescue effort fails, he faces a life-or-death decision: remain in the relative safety of his camp and hope to be found, or embark on an arduous trek that may be the only hope for both him and a critically injured stranger. Critics are calling this captivating, white-knuckle film "chilling and thrilling, heart-wrenching and heart-lifting" (Los Angeles Times).

However, this movie will not be appreciated by the video gamers or superhero fans. For the emotionally mature, this is a great movie on survival and redemption. Mads Mikkelsen once again turns in an incredible performance that makes this a movie not to miss.

This isn't a firecracker film. It's not meant to overwhelm you with action without meaning. Mads Mikkelsen is able to convey a lot of emotion with a little bit of body language and his eyes. This story is about endurance, hope, faith, fear, despair, and companionship. It's worth your time. I'm grateful I saw it.

Terrible boring movie. Save your time and watch a screen saver as you watch one man drag a baked potato through the arctic. The whole time I was either thinking how easy that girl’s job was to take naps on set or fast forwarding through the movie. Ugh.

Look deeper. Don’t expect to be spoon fed your morals to this story. Buy the ticket & take the ride, cause this is thoughtful & very well done.

Among all the new movies this year, this one really makes you wonder if the end ever really will happen.

If you like movies that touch on the profound this movie is well worth a watch. If you like stupid mass audience action flicks you should skip this masterwork. The actors are all excellent and are completely absorbed in their characters. The film is a little slow at spots in a good way .....for those of us who actually want to feel and empathize with the actors and engage the depth of the story. Transformation is the meaning of the movie survival is the vehicle. I hope this film finds the support it deserves.

First, I don’t consider this a thriller. It’s an adventure drama if there’s such a category, an Arctic survival story about a mans determination to live and help live. No glitz, no gee whiz special effects, super heroes, rockets, guns, or sex. It is real acting set in a realistically portrayed survival situation set in a desolate environment with essentially one main character incredibly well played by Mikkelsen. There is no real dialogue. Having been in the survival business and read every polar exploration and survival book written I can say with confidence it’s pretty accurate. If you want the same Hollywood trash with non stop phony action, the standard “stars”, gratuitous violence, sex, etc, this is not for you. Don’t pay for it and don’t criticize real film making. It’s not for everyone and I’m glad they still make movies like this.
