If you like Fantastic Mr Fox as much as someone like me, then chances are you’ll find a lot to enjoy about Isle of Dogs. It’s not exactly a kids movie, as many have pointed out. But for those around 10 on up, Isle of Dogs is a very likable movie. It has a dry low key sense of humor that while not might please everyone, definitely pleased me. But at the same time, the movie carries some emotional depth within its bittersweet storyline. It’s quite a bit sad, and for some dog lovers might jerk a tear or two, but that’s one of the ways you know it’s a good, well told story. And in the end, everything comes together in a nice Wes Anderson type feel. I can see why a lot of mainstream moviegoers wouldn’t really care about this. But if you like Wes Anderson movies or you just like films with lots of dry humor but have enough emotional beats to make the story worth something, just like Fantastic Mr Fox, then Isle of Dogs is definitely the movie I’d recommend. Oh right, the animation is also very unique and fun to watch. Now, it does drag in a few places so I would give this a 4.5 if I could. But you know what, that about rounds to a 5.

This visually stunning film was absolutely a blast to watch. The visual art in the film is like no other that I’ve seen so far and the message of the film is also intriguing

Isle of Dogs can be Wes Anderson's best film again iam not a fan of Wes Anderson i think some of his movies are charming and look pretty that's it. But Isle of Dogs has style and lots of good characters and a well written storyline that fits in between the characters and presective. If anyone can make a serious animated movie it has be Wes Anderson.

I was NOT expecting to like this movie, let alone LOVE IT. But that's what happened! I've never been a Wes Anderson fan. In fact, I usually hate his films (Grand Budapest, for example). I've always found him very pretentious and a "look at me!" director. ISLE OF DOGS took me in completely. The film is so intelligent and subtle, but also packed with eye-popping craftsmanship. Many times, I completely forgot I was looking at stop-motion. It's easily one of the best "dog" movies I've ever seen. It might not be for everybody, but you shouldn't pass this up. I took a chance, and adored it!

Wes Anderson is great at organization. The story is told with great efficiency that blends with how well each shot is composed. The only word I can think of to describe this film is 'symmetrical'. This film is not for kids. They won't appreciate it. This film is also not for people used to 'mainstream' movies. It's really more of an artsy film geared toward more artsy people. The comedy is there, but you have to pay attention. Personally, I love dry humor, and there's plenty of it in 'Isle of Dogs'. The dialogue is very monotone, and if you don't mind that, then you'll end up liking this film. The good outweighs its flaws. Honestly speaking, you'll like it more for its technical aspect (if you happen to pay attention to that kind of stuff), but everything else about this movie is done well. I just also want to point out that this movie is cleverly named to sound like 'I love dogs'.
