Description

Director Morgan Spurlock's social experiment in fast-food gastronomy sees him attempting to subsist uniquely on food from the McDonald's menu for an entire month. In the process his weight balloons, his energy level plummets and he experiences all sorts of unexpected -- and terrifying -- side effects. He also examines the corporate giant's growing role in the lives of American consumers and explores its methods of indoctrinating young people and its contribution to America's obesity epidemic.

He wasn’t trying to prove that McDonald’s wasn’t just bad for you, but fast food in general. If you’d paid close attention to it he wasn’t training for that time frame on purpose to prove that if you had nothing but that for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, that basically proves that your health can deteriorate without the the proper nutrition. Even Joe Weider (who Launched Muscle and Fitness) would strongly support this documentary if he saw this and encouraged others to steer clear of any of it just so you can improve yourself even better.

By the way, love all the fast food addicts writing one star reviews, clamoring and calling this lies. Probably weigh 500 pounds each.

There is very little truth to this vegan-funded, anti-fast food documentary. Anyone who needs to watch a movie to figure out that eating a high calorie diet without doing any exercising will make you fat and unhealthy, isn't very bright. If you don't exercise, you could overeat "health food" all day and have the same results as overeating Big Macs.

Teams of researchers have tried to replicate what happens and none of them have been able to get the same results.

This movie is a great reminder for me so I can warn myself about eating McDonald’s too much.

I cannot believe how much this “documentary” has been treated as something of educational value. So, Morgan Spurlock decides to eat nothing but McDonald’s for breakfast, lunch, & dinner for one whole month to see what happens to his bodies. As another part of the “experiment”, he must also “live as the average American” and not take more than a certain number of steps each day (to avoid burning calories). Wait, hold up...that’s not an honest experiment at all! If you’re going to do a true experiment about what fast food 3x daily does to your body, you CANNOT change your lifestyle so drastically. An honest experiment would have had him keep his highly active lifestyle (he demonstrates his active lifestyle in this...”documentary”). You can’t change more than one variable in an experiment! Second, why is there no log of what Morgan Spurlock ate? Without knowing what he ate...and DRANK at McDonald’s everyday, we have no idea what nutrients could have caused his weight gain. Did he drink a large sugary soda with every meal? SUGAR can make you fatter than any burger or chicken nugget! Obviously eating burgers & nuggets to excess isn’t good (especially if you’re just sitting in a chair all day), but fat & protein aren’t as bad for you as sugar! And speaking of what he ate...Spurlock does know that no one is FORCING him, or anyone else, to eat McDonald’s, yes? Even if o ly McDonald’s is available, no one is being forced them to eat & drink its unhealthy options! By the rules of HIS OWN experiment, he could have eaten the the McSalads and just drank water after day 9 (when he ate every item on the menu at least once)! But he CHOSE to eat the Big Macs, with supersized fries & SODAS everyday. Actually, scratch that. We don’t know exactly what he ate because he never provided a log! Oh yeah, and he also CHOSE to not exercise during this whole time! He chose to RIG this experiment to make McDonald’s look bad. Don’t fall for this load of hogwash, folks. Obviously there are healthier options than fries, burgers, and nuggets. But don’t forget...SUGAR is the reason we are getting fat! If you eat more sugar than your liver can process, it is stored as fat. Maybe McDonald’s should have gotten rid of its soda dispensers instead of its “supersize” option!

I remember watching this movie back in Westfield Middle School and it's the perfect movie for people who can stop eating fast food. So, I can stop eating fast food anytime I want to.
