You may not think of Wilmington, Delaware as a hotbed of hip hop, but one of the genre’s brightest shining up-and-comers was born and raised in the city that he still calls home today.
25-year-old Derrell Jervey, known to the world as Rell Jerv, is not only looking to carve out his own lane in the game, but is also inspired by the thought of putting his hometown on the map. Over the course of a few years releasing independent singles and mixtapes, Rell Jerv starting popping up on some of the industry’s premiere hip hop online destinations like The Source, This Is 50, Hip Hop Weekly and All Hip Hop.
The praise on his flow, lyrical originality, tone, live performance and freestyles all started to come as the critics and masses alike began to realize that the Delaware native is far from the average MC. “It is evident Jerv is an abstract lyricist who hones a smooth approach and signature stage presence,” said The Source.
