  • Muse’s Debut Album

You always hear Muse fans talking about Origin of Symmetry or Absolution, even though this album has some of their best music. Sunburn and Sober are some of my favorites, Sunburn just being awesome but also Sober as it was in one of my favorite video games I played when I was younger, Gran Turismo 3 a spec. Overall I wouldn’t call it my favorite Muse album of all time, but it’s a stronger one, with plenty of potential later used in the other albums. Worthy of five stars.
  • One of the best!

I think this album is one of their best, but one of their most underrated albums. It has classic songs that any Muse fan can remember, such as “Sunburn,” “Uno,” and “Muscle Museum” (which is one of my favorite songs.) But it has some of my all time favorite songs buy them, like “Muscle Museum” which stands out far more unique than other songs on the album. “Fillip,” which to be honest, is one of my favorite Muse songs even though not many people are familiar with it. “Sober,” which has a squealing guitar solo after the second chorus which gives this song so much more taste. Not only to the song, but to the album. And one of my favorites is one of their most underrated songs in their category, “Spiral Static,” the one song I truly love but has never been played live or been recognized for its full potential. The bass, guitar, drums, and vocals work so well, and it sounds so awesome. 10/10, flawless album.
  • It's a decent album

This isn't Muse's best album, but there are a lot of great songs in this album. Sunburn, Musical Museum, Falling Down, Cave, Unintended, Sober, Hate This and I'll Love You are all pretty good. The other songs are alright, but for some reason don't really please my ears as Muse usually does. Escape is good too. This album is worth it, because it's got potential, and it's Muse's first album. But if your a new Muse fan, with the 2nd Law and Drones type, this album may take a while before liking. Go on YouTube and listen to the B-sides of Muse, they are very good!

  • A Preview of Greatness

This album has many little hints of what this band would come to offer in the coming decade and change. It's all here, but in a sort of raw form. Matt's voice lacks a bit of confidence, Chris's bass lines are pronounced but not overly complex, and Dom is a little sloppy at times. It's a great starting point for a band that only got better and better with each consecutive album. There are some great moments on this album, and yes, a few lulls. But, when listened to as a historical document, this album is a pure delight, especially if you have a discerning ear and are able to hear the previews of greatness scattered throughout.

  • Their Best Album!

Most people would call me crazy for placing this as their best album, and I may be, but I swear to you it is. It is far more subtle than their other albums, their is not a song on this album that jumps out at you instantly, but over a few listens it grows on you. I think that they have made several songs on their later alums that would be the best song on this record (knights of cydonia, super massive black hole, uprising, dead inside, the handler), but the other records don’t have as much depth as this one. Every song on this album is good, this album is kind of like if radiohead got heavier, and I think that was what they were going for, but I think this album is lost on a lot of people because (like most Radiohead albums) this album is weird and obscure, but that’s why it’s so great. But at the same time you have to be open to the obscurity, if you go into this album expect hard hitting production like most of their other albums you will be disappointed. And you also can’t just listen to this album 2 or 3 times, you need to hear it at least 5 times or so, because every time you hear you’ll pick up an affinity for more songs every time. I had left this album in the cd-player in my truck, and because I was too lazy to take it out, I ended up listening to it at least 10 times and ended up loving it. I tried doing this with their other albums because I initially got into them first and thought they would be the best ones, this was not the case. All of Muse’s albums have about 5 great songs and the rest of them are average. This one has 13 good songs, I stress again that the other albums have the high notes, but this one has the depth, listen to it.
