Not many know that the guitar player from the band "Primus" was one of the guitar player on this album, when he was just 17 years old!

This is it; where death metal, thrash metal, and black metal all coalesce into something so dark, so evil you'll be mindblown before you can blink! Timeless, ageless, and as relevant now as ever. This is darkness, devastation and The Devil all in one skull-splitting package. No collection is complete without it!

A lot of people cite this as the first death metal album, but I think that distinction actually goes to Morbid Angel's Abominations of Desolation, which saw a very limited release in 1986 before being shelved until the 90s, or Death's Scream Bloody Gore. This album, like Celtic Frost's Morbid Tales, is a missing link between thrash metal and death metal, and Seven Churches is probably the seminal missing length. This album helped set many of the precedents for what would come to define death metal, particularly the vocals. There are still far too many Slayer influenced thrash metal riffs and drum beats for this to really sound like out and out death metal, but it comes awfully close. With moments of chugging guitar and the occasional blastbeat drumming, some of the songs define many of the elements of what would become the death metal genre. This is a classic of the burgeoning extreme metal movement, and it is to death metal what Bathory's debut was to black metal.

Just thought I'd see if Possessed ever made it here, and they finally did!! I already own the three Possessed albums but it is good to see their stuff now made available to others. One of my favorite metal albums.

I found these guys in the back of old metal mags.. Listened to them and liked it. Checked the discography nothing new since 1987? I didn't get it. But I still listen to it and LIKE IT!!!!! I GOTTA HAVE IT NOW
