The melting and haunting sound of The Lower Dens is carried by a masterful understanding of life and the importance of beauty.
like the beat, not the voice

Has a happy beat but the singing isn't so great.

Seriously, this band is fantastic. This album, Escape from Evil, was more “poppy” than I was expecting, but please don’t confuse that with standardized, generic pop music. There’s nothing standardized or generic about the Lower Dens. This is a rich, thick, dense, and immensely rewarding album. Time will tell if it carries the longevity of constant-play Nootropics (2012) has in my library, but I suspect so. I’m still finding new angles on each listen.
U2?

I've listened to this album a handful of times now. It's different than the two previous albums. More synth, more poppy, yet still 100% Lower Dens. The music here is top notch and their best yet. Highly, highly recommended. Get it!
The Freshest of Sounds!

The song ‘To Die in L.A.’ is catchy and reminiscent of 80s alternative pop, but way better production. It’s a solid track and I can’t wait to get the rest of this come March.
