I know some people who were fans of their earlier work don’t like some of the newer stuff, but bands evolve and I personally like them old and new. I admit I only stumbled across them about 5yrs ago and maybe that’s a contributing factor.

I wouldn't claim ITM, is a metal band, maybe they've been a pop band with metal inspirations. The album wasn't all that bad, but really cliché. It must be me or I'm just getting tired of hearing Maria Brink's screaming vocals, or as she tries. This album would've been better if it was all cleans.

So I will say first I enjoyed Big Bad Wolf and Sick Like Me but sadly two songs isn't enough to save this album. It's a bland album and in a more radio friendly commercial direction. At least there is still Beautiful Tragedy and A Star-Crossed Wasteland to listen to. Those were their best releases by far.

When every great rock band finds their signature sound and hits their stride, you can feel it. That’s what’s happening on this album. Maria and Chris found a darker sound, adding influences from many genres, and have pushed the boundaries of what metal can be. When everyone is hashing out the same garbage, ITM have reached deep for a very trippy, hard, emotional album full of some of the greatest production I’ve ever heard. A great album should be a journey full of emotions, and that’s what ITM gives us with Black Widow. This collection of songs is great from beginning to end, and is full of strange and twisted surprises that I would never expect. Definitely my pick for ALBUM OF THE YEAR.
