These are all great songs. However, why are there no performances from Brunei?

I know of no other singer than Whitney Houston who sang our national anthem better. I still get goosebumps and chills when I hear her sing it! She was the greatest - no matter what anyone says - she had her ups and downs like everyone else. Now she singing with the choir of Angels.

The voice deserves five stars alone, but this compilation should not be mistaken for a highlight of her most outstanding vocal performances, rather it is an anthology of the most significant moments in her performing career (in the eyes of Clive Davis). Real fans (such as myself 😁) know that this track listing omits dozens of Whitney's flawless, effortless, and most breathtaking performances, some of which could have easily replaced some of the tracks here and really demonstrated why she was hailed as the greatest female vocalist of her generation. Nevertheless, I can appreciate what this album does accomplish. It powerfully demonstrates her unmatched stage presence, and her ability to connect with the audience in a deeply intimate way even when she had to repose those high notes. This album demonstrates her brilliance as a "performer," but not as much as a "vocalist." Hopefully there's a volume 2 on the way that is aimed more closely at showcasing the magnitude of her vocal ability.

  • Whitney Live How Tragic

This is possibly the greatest Live CD from the Greatest Female Vocalist of All Times past, present, and future. An artist who is uncoverable as only Whitney could do it to Perfection as she always did. Any attempt to sing her songs fell short of the mark because Whitney's Vocal Talents, Verve, Passion, Phasing, Tempo, and Nuances made each song unique and special. There will never be another Whitney and she will be MISSED
  • Not Worthy of a Legend

OK, let's say we overlook that the Star Spangle Banner was not a live performance, (Whitney was lip syncing to a pre-recorded studio track produced by Clive Davis); however, its place in popular culture is significant and merits inclusion here. Unfortunately, it mostly goes down hill from there. This release has too many tracks with terrible audio, particularly the TV show performances. Whitney sounds flat on I Wanna Dance With Somebody. I didn't even know Whitney could EVER sing flat! I can't imagine she would have authorized the release of this set.

Her best live performance was not even included: Divas Live duet with Mary J. Blige "Ain't No Way". It is rare when Aretha gets served, yet she does that night.

This is the penticle of excellence of where every female singer after Whitney is trying to be but will never be. Mariah , Kelly Clarkson , Carrie Underwood, Adele , Christina because Whitney set the bar so high and it will never bee seen again .You can argue all you want but it is true because when Whitney came on the scene everyone wanted to be her but could'nt . 1985 -1995 Whitney was unstoppable .
