Such fun tunes! Jack Antonoff is a hero of giddy nostalgia and desperation; I can relate to this guy.

This album sparked something new inside me personally. From the outside looking in, it’s a mess. The production is enormous, everything is turned up to 11, and the fervent teenage-pandering, as some might see it, would turn off a lot of people I imagine. However, the 80’s inspired synthesizers, desperate vocals, and truly compelling and relatable lyrics and themes change it from a mess to a masterpiece. As a 19 year old, going through the motions, the bombastic, crippling nature of some of these tracks truly captures the essense of teenage emotion. ‘I Wanna Get Better’ is my favorite song of the decade thus far. It’s all about pressing that reset button. Wanting to get a new start because you dislike the person you’ve become, and then doing whatever the hell you can to get where you need to be. ‘Like A River Runs’ is also a favorite of mine, Jack talks about his sister that passed away, and the emotion that comes with that. The sounds and lyrics, to me, perfectly encapsulate how it feels to want someone who you’ve lost back. Either you’ll love it or you’ll hate it, but this album has changed how I look at music entirely. Thank you Jack Antonoff for your impeccable work! Best 5 songs: Wild Heart, I Wanna Get Better, Like A River Runs, Wake Me, You’re Still A Mystery

As a woman who was called Molly after "Pretty In Pink" came out (who is exactly 1 month older than me), and celebrated my 1 yr anniversary of dating my now husband by seeing "Breakfast Club" (which takes place on 3/24, the date my husband and I ended up getting married) I think John Hughes himself would give this entire album his stamp of approval. I LOVE it!! Kicks in ALL feelz!!!
