The greatest blues album ever. I'm not alone in saying this - I know a lot of musicians who play this album in their cars exclusively. When the Grateful Dead first started performing, their entire set was every song on the "Hoodoo Man Blues" album - it was the only collection of songs every band member knew how to play.

This album is blues from start to finish. Great production quality, and the talented stylings of true legends. It does not matter what style of blues you like, if you like blues this album should be in your collection.
  • A great electric blues album.

Buddy Guy and Junior Wells are at the top of their form here. (Yet it's not as removed from early Chicago blues as it seems at first -- Willie Dixon plays upright bass on some tracks.) Great singing, great singing, generally great songs, even if 'Good Morning Little Schoolgirl' is a pretty creepy concept for a song.

This is it. If you love Chicago Blues, then this is the one. It's Junior Welles at the height of his power. This is to blues what Kind of Blue is to jazz...the pinnacle. Junior's voice is like velvet and Buddy Guy playing behind him is stripped to the essence. Not a wasted note. It jumps jumps off the CD. This is greatness.
