DJ Ron W's review is on point. Seriously a hallmark album, arguably a most exiting new reggae release in my humble enthusiast's opinion. The Shaggy/Beres duo on "Can't Fight this Feeling" could quite possibly prove one of the biggest hits of the decade. Of most important note is the stunning production quality of the music courtesy of Sly and Robbie, who take us on a musical journey that captures the essence of the earliest reggae days all the way to contemporary electronic bass and drum. Sly and Robbie ~ Please make a dub version companion album! A host of incredible supporting voices - Cocoa Tea, Tarrus Riley and Chronixx to name just a few huge talents. Shaggy of course delivers with some epic chants and honestly positive and uplifting lyrics, true to the reggae roots. Let's not forget Mr. Lova Lova…Shaggy's words take romance to new heights with nostalgically clean yet sensual and suggestive love songs that honor the feminine side. This shines light on the overtly pornographic content put forth by some of the bad minds of the genre (not that the riddims aren't hot). Ne-Yo, someone I am not terribly familiar with, lays down a beautiful melody for Shaggy on an irresistibly poppy one-drop lovers bomb. The title of the album - although I am not positive - may be a homage to Barak, a man whose name means blessing and who regardless of the politics surrounding him, is a tangible symbol of positive change and freedom in the world, much like Ras Tafari. A special thanks and big up to all the radio DJ's who have championed these tunes!
