I wish I had found this sooner. I never became a fan of Pearl Jam primarily due to the sound of their first album. To me, it sounded like listening to a live band from a distance or sitting in a dead spot of a venue where you can't hear everything well enough to be able to tell what's going on. You can see the guitar player playing his butt off but you can't hear him. To me, this made them sound amateurish. I couldn't tell if Mike, Stone, and Jeff were any good because I simply couldn't hear the details of what they were doing. It was mostly Eddie's vocals, some drums, and a big, muddy wash in the background. I passed on these guys in favor of Soundgarden who I thought sounded better. I'm glad that they decided to release this remix and that they didn't pull a ZZ Top and replace the original with this. People love the original and it should be preserved. It's good to have choices. As for me, I like this remix. As a musician, I can hear more of what the band is doing and it sounds and feels more like what I would expect from an early '90s Seattle band.

This mix is the only allowed way to listen to this album.

In my opinion this version of Ten has been revitalized and has a better sound quality!! I love the original but when I have the option to have this and not have to turn the volume up high to enjoy the songs that make it a plus! I understand its an older era of music but the mixing is dated and sounds amazing on this remastered album.

This album blew me away when I first heard it upon release and I must have played that CD a hundred times over the years. Every song simply connects on a primal level and is a standalone statement of the vibe of the early '90s. Who knew where "grunge" would go almost 30 years ago. Now we know, and this album remains as fresh, raw, and primal as ever. I like this clearer and cleaner remix even better than the original. You cannot argue with the consistent quality of Pearl Jam's entire catalog, and this debut is still the high water mark of any band playing today. Just buy it and love it all over again, in your 40s and 50s and 60s.
  • Better than the original album

Despite what haters think, I believe this is better than the original album. The whole point of this album was because Eddie believed that the original was over produced and he asked Brendan O’Brien to give it a “Grungier” feel. With the remix you Can a better understanding of just how good Mike McCready’s guitar solos are and plus really think that it brings out eddies voice. As an added bonus you get studio outtakes such as State of Love and Trust and Brother, which are truly awesome songs.
  • A waste of $$$$$

While it's cool to hear the album with less reverb (something I could pull out with protools) it's a waste of $$$.. the original with the verb just gave the album a darker edge that I liked....what's more astonishing is how much Dave Abbruzzese made that band better with his drumming...you want a real redux, overdub him over Krusen..
  • Redux is superior to the original.

Got this on the physical CD. Bad to the bone production quality. Bonus songs icing on the cake.
  • What a great album
