This is one of the best Dead shows I've ever heard.

I have the entire run leading up to and including Barton Hall 5/8/77 and this is THE show everyone should have.

This is the Grateful Dead at their most jazzy and exploratory circa 1972. Jerry is in absolute top form as is Keith and their intertwining leads make for some very interesting listening. Bobby too is excellent, he's in good voice and his playing is exceptional, as is Phil's. But for me the star of the show is drummer Billy Kreutzmann whose nimble, complementary and forceful playing drives the band like at no other time in their career. Listening to this show I seriously wish Mickey Hart never rejoined, though we'd be missing out on those later drums/space segments. Phil and Bill do a really nice bass and drums solo during what is the most jazz oriented Dark Star of the Dead's career. Along with 2/14/70, 4/08/72 Wembley Empire Pool and the original from Live Dead it's one of the very best. As a bonus the sound is immaculate and Donna is on point. The temperature was hot as hell, the band were hotter. This is the sound of thick air.

This show was always one of my favorites...... I'm thrilled that it is finally out on cd. Now if they would release Cornell all would be right in the universe!
  • Great show. iTunes only provides music, but buying CDs gets film

Apple and iTunes could offer the film to correspond the physical disk sales. One of my pores seems stretched... If I had to do it over again, I'd have gotten the disk set instead.

They're still taliking about this one in Lane County Oregon... & like a memory turned fantasy, we're finally able to relive this dream concert for a lifetime & beyond. Long live Jerry & the Grateful Dead's legend.

If only there were a way to edit our Bob's country songs from this, it would be supreme.

Was stoked to see this was going to be released heard about it and now I can hear it. Truly mind blowing stuff...now if they could release Barton Hall 5/8/77 the same way wed be golden. I prefer this earlier 72'-74' period but it would be nice to hear a cleaned up version of (considered by many) to be their best show ever. People like me still haven't heard it and want that experience.
