I first saw them live at Harewood House and that's what got me in to them. Since then I got all of their albums and they're great. But this album is by far their best! From beginning to end is just awesome. And I don't leave many reviews, so of you're an editors fan, this is a must!!
  • Don't know just yet.

Editors…Phase 2? You're talking like you reviewed the whole album. The editors had me with "The Backroom", and "An End Has a Start" but lost me with "In This Light and On This Evening"…from the sounds of these three songs they have released it maybe another disappointment but I say that with some hesitation since we have not heard the whole thing yet. They sound more polished and the beats are not as driving as they were with their first two albums. One positive thing is it's got to be better than "In This Light and On This Evening"
  • New song is great

The album is not out yet, but the first single is great! It sounds like earlier Editors material and new at the same time. Bring on July 1st!

About a year ago Editors lost guitarist Christopher Urbanowicz due to musical differences. I can see why he left now. The band really wanted to reinvent themselves and thats what they did with this album. I will say a good portion of people won't welcome the change the band has undergone. Even I will admit it was a record that needed a few listens before I even began to understand it. I had to understand that this wasn't the same band that wrote hits like Munich or An End Has A Start. This is Editors Phase 2. The guys are more mature and the it reflects in the music. I don't look at this as a rock record at all. Its more of a musical epic. It swells and takes time. Nothing about this record is immediate. So don't judge it after a first listen. Not even after a second listen. This record has to grow on you. It saddens me because we probably won't ever hear those raw energetic songs from the first record The Back Room. Or the anthems from record 2, An End Has A Start. Or even the catchy tunes that reminded me of Depeche Mode or Joy Division in In This Light and On This Evening. The boys have walked away from that and are writing ballads that more resemble The National and not Joy Division. All in all it is a great record that takes its time. I recommend it on Vinyl, next to a fire with a glass of Scotch on the rocks.
  • Not sure what to think yet...

If this first single is an indicator of what's to come, not sure if I'm going to love the album the way I have previous records. It's so layered and the vocal range is exploring new ranges while I loved the raw simplicity of the arrangements before. It was, in my opinion, what defined their sound and attracted me too their music. No need to evolve the compositions or over polish. I hope there are songs that compare to the first couple albums. I might still really enjoy the album. Don't get me wrong. I won't knock their talent. But if the sound is so different, it's like it's not Editors anymore.
  • Hope the Album Is Better then Single!

Sorry sounds a bit too much like U2 & Counting Crows!
