  • One word: Explosive

Clutch came out of nowhere for me and they just continue to prove that they are amazing musicians. This album only further cements my feeling that they are the best metal band since Metallica - and that's about as high praise as i can give. They have not slowed down one step with this one and have not disappointed me yet. They continue to have consistently high energy and fantastic imagery. It's cryptic and apocalypitic - like a madman's manifesto. Which only serves to make the lyrics maddeningly addictive. This may be their most high-energy and andrenaline fueled album ever, in fact. It makes for both great driving and working out music. For a band that rocks so hard, this one has an almost harder edge somehow - that's not very common for a band that's been around so long. If i had to describe this album in one word, it would be "explosive." From their first album, they haven't lost a step. If anything, they've gotten better. Earth Rocker boasts excellent, possibly their best, guitar work. And there's still a little bit of bluesy/southern flavor that runs through most of their tunes. That's one of the main things that helps them stand out from most of the bands in this genre. They come off like a cross between Leadbelly and Metallica - what a perfect combination. Fallon's vocals are another reason Clutch is a cut above the rest of the bands in this genre. Most of their contemporaries are belching and vomiting out uninteligible lyrics and just scream like super-angry crybabies. Hearing and trying to understand clutch lyrics sung by one of the top 5 voices in the genre is almost half the fun of Clutch. Though there's no perfect 5 star songs on this album, there's also no throwaways nor 2 star songs. There may be more 5 star tunes on albums like Beale and Blast Tyrant, the overall stats are more solid on this album despite the lack of standouts. There's far more 4 star songs and fewer 3 star tracks. It says a lot when an album's weakest songs are still 3 star quality even if the strongest songs are 4 star. Even the bluesy and slower Gone Cold is pretty good. On most albums a slower-than-the-rest track would be a sore thumb, but not with Clutch. There's eight 4 star songs and three 3 star songs with no throwaways.

Describes for me exactly this album, a classic already, after Strange Cousins. This is an amazing follow up... one influence I've seen is Howlin' Wolf in this new set. Enjoy.

Every time I have waited for a new CLUTCH album since I started listening to this amazing group of the 4 best musicians from my generation I have yet to be disappointed in fact they have managed to change up their sound from one album to the next pushing the limits of change and still managing to hold a solid fan base . They are the best live band ever with a different playlist from show to show 33 + shows & I would keep on going as long as they play close enough to NH . If you have never seen CLUTCH live then you haven't seen a real rock show!!!!!

I've been a Clutch fan from the start and this album does not disappoint! Great sound all of you other bands out there need to take notice because this is how it's done! The best rock and blues album to come out in a very long time. This is as close to perfect as it gets.

If you are a fan of Blast Tyrant , I would say that you will love this album. I love most of Clutch's albums. My favorite one's make me want to jump through a brick wall and claim the lives on the other side as mine. I bought this album yesterday and have already listened to it enough to kill a small child. One of the best rock albums of 2013. Have fun.

These guys are true artists who have mastered their craft and truly enjoy sharing it with those if us lucky enough partake in their musical feasts. This album is Clutch at the too of their game (where they shockingly have been since Transitional Speedway!) never complacent, they never cease to amaze with every album. Only thing better is seeing Clutch live!!!
