If you are a fan of Deftones you will like this album. Reminds me a lot of White Pony but this not a stale album. It's new/fresh, hard/heavy and soft when you need it to be.

It's always difficult for a band to pump out quality, relevant, and new music, especially after being around since the mid 90s but there are exceptions. The Deftones have evolved yet stayed true to their roots (impossible it seems) through every album since 1995's Adrenaline and do not disappoint with this release. As a long time Deftones fan, dare I say, this may be my favorite album by them of all time. If you've ever liked anything by the Deftones, do yourself a favor and grab it ASAP. It sounds almost content but that's not a bad thing by any stretch or matter. There are such great ambient sounds and flows going on while Stephan's guitars are chugging away with such a solid bottom that the mesh is near perfect. After writing the review I need to go listen to it again because its just that good.

They did a great job with this album. Not going into specifics or details about it. If you're a fan and have been a fan it's worth the price of admission. They put together a split album from start to finish. Goon Squad!

Continuing on the trajectory that began with White Pony, Deftones are pushing outwards, defying the safety of cookie cutter self-imitation. The dreamy, post-rock soundscapes are carried over from Saturday Night Wrist, with call backs to their Adrenaline punch. Deftones, possibly due to both the personal growth and maturation and the maturation of their fans, are showing the world that a signature sound does not have to sound like stasis.
