Must have album for every fan of jazz fusion. Billy Cobham has been a driving force in defining what jazz fusion is today. His Spectrum 40 tour is also amazing.

I'm going to be a little more generous and give two instead of the customary one star review. iTunes, what is your excuse for this missing track? This is ridiculous! If I were the head of this company I would fire the lot of you and do things the right way. Ok, rant over with.

Was just introduced via the original '73 vinyl. Never heard of this before. Wow there is so much great music out there yet to be discovered.

Absolutely love the album…the music is incredible. I have the original vinyl album I purchased back in 1973 and I wanted to have it on my iPod.

On one of the most important groundbreaking albums of all time, by one of our favorite drummers and producers, iTunes has let us all down. The tracks are well scrambled and all misnamed, and there are duplicates...it's a mess... Trying to make sense of it, (Not being an expert or an authority by any means) Analyzing the iTunes download, which I paid for and now have- This is what I came up with: 1. Quadrant 4 2. Searching for the right door/Spectrum 3. Anxiety/Taurean Matador 4. Stratus 5. To the women in my life 6. Snoopy's Search/Red Baron 7. To the women in my life/Le Lis 8. Le Lis 9.Snoopy's Search/Red Baron 10. Red Baron That means Red Baron is repeated 3 times, Snoopy's Search, To the women in my life, and Le Lis are all repeated twice, and these are NOT outakes or other versions. THE CORRECT ORDER IS SUPPOSED TO BE: (According to the Vinyl released in 1973) 1. Quadrant 4 (4:20) 2. Searching for the right door (1:24) 3. Spectrum (5:09) 4. Anxiety (1:41) 5. Taurean Matador (3:03) 6. Stratus (9:50) 7. To The Women In My Life (0.51) 8. Le Lis (3:20) 9. Snoopy's Search (1:02) 10. Red Baron (6:37) I don't have the Vinyl, but I got the titles and play times by searching online. If i have made a mistake, will you please help us all out? Thanks to all the drumdawgs and lovers out there, peace

I bought the album when it first came out. Listening to it now (2/24/11) confirms my purchase. I have more than 10k songs on my iPod, but when ever any of the songs from Spectrum are played I stop what I'm doing and LISTEN. 'nough said.

So yeah, after some research, I was happy to note that all the original LP tracks are contained here, but a few are mislabeled. Tracks 1 and 2 are correct, but Track 3 is actually Anxiety / Taurian Matador. Track 4 is actually Stratus, Track 5 is actually To the Women in My Life / Le Lis, and Track 6 is actually Snoopy's Search / Red Baron. Track 7 should be To the Women in My Life, and the rest are correct, but I don't know how the track list got so jacked up on iTunes. Still, it's good to know that all the tracks from the original album are here. I have been a fusion fan for a while, but got kind of burned out after buying and listening to 25 Miles Davis albums. After revisiting it, I found this gem, and I am so glad I did. I loved Billy in Mahavishnu Orchestra, and he really lays back and takes more of a support role in this album, which I would not have expected. He definitely brings the caliber of players to make this album great, though. The whole album is great, but I especially love Stratus (mislabeled as Anxiety / Taurian Matador here) and Red Baron. Both of those songs are just groovy as hell. I definitely reccommend this album to any music lover.

After 35 year, 30 since the LP was taken, and in later years finding numerous good, but not "spectrum" CD's ranging from the early digitalI prices ranging from $35- $50 i have finally found THE album. Billy, Tommy Bolin......perfection.
  • Glad I found this after 30+ years

Just started'i-tuning'(I'm 55yrs old)with recent Christmas present (I-pod nano). Younger people DON'T PASS THIS UP for reasons others have allready mentioned. I also was looking for the 'original Stratus'. As others have mentioned it's here with a different title. I'll probably end up buying all the songs even though I was initially looking for the original Stratus. Thank-you I-Tunes.
