The originator of quiet storm Roberta Flack graces us yet again with another superb album. Say what you will about the contemporary almost jazz lite arrangements no one sings like Roberta. Yoko Ono must have heard something in this album otherwise she would not have supported this album, and Yoko is known for not holding back. A standout track for me is the inclusion of her 1972 Carnegie Hall performance of "Here, There, And Everywhere." The way she embellishes each note, food for the soul. The bonus track here, the commercially accessible pop gem "Here Comes The Sun" is as gleeful as George Harrison's original. Roberta we missed you so.

The songs of course are wonderful. It was a great pleasure to hear them again in these very different arrangements with Ms Flack's beautiful voice.

Though not a big fan of her singles I have come to appreciate the special quality of Roberta Flack's voice. I think this collection of songs is uninspired and does not really highlight her beautiful tone. Oddly, her voice actually sounds higher than it did in her youth. The one exception is the last song (ironically recorded, I believe, in 1971) Here There and Everywhere. This is Roberta in all her glory.

I didn't think it was possible to make the Beatles music dull - but she managed.

I keep playing it over and over trying so hard to like it. The idea sounded great .... I pre-ordered in anticipation. Two or three good tracks .... The rest are mediocre to say the least. Am disappointed.

Boring renditions of grest tunes. I can't think of one I would even take for free.

I thought that every one of these Beatles songs deserved to be on the list of "Songs That Shouldn't Be Played Again for Twenty Years" -- overplayed, tired, hard to even really hear anymore. Everyone already knows every note and pause by heart. What a surprise then to encounter them again, re-arranged and played with a hip beat by a group of master musicians and led by a superb jazz vocalist. It's hard to imagine anyone who likes this style of music not finding this recording a delight from beginning to end. I would have bet a lot of money that I would never choose to hear "Hey Jude" again, but Miss Flack made me eat my words.

I went in expecting not to like this cd. Well, I am really surprised, but not really, its Roberta Flack; this cd is so nice. They took classics and moderized them, but not rebuilding where you don't recognize the origin. Not overly produce. I love it. It's apart of my Roberta Flack collection now, as a matter of fact.

Roberta Flack has always had a way with Pop, elevating it to a higher level. I prefer a bluesier, jazzier approach, but I admire her ability to almost always render a song well. So, looking for gems, I sampled the whole album. I wasn't disappointed, There are a couple of stand-outs for me. It's always great to hear a song you love done so differently from the original, so successfully that it's like a new song. Her version of "Oh Darling" is like that. Ray Charles couldn't have done a better job of making it his own. I'm also fond of the Brazilian take on "In My Life". The accompaniment is so strong, I'd also like to know who's backing her up. She and her producer didn't skimp on musical talent on this album. Combined with the always-reliable mastery of that voice, it's fun to listen to, even if it's not what I usually listen to.

Vocals are pure Roberta Flack at it's best. Missed her so happy she has given the word another Chapter and she have sung anyone's songs as long as she embraced us with the voice again.
