Another Stoney Evening (Live 1971) [Bonus Track Version]

I'll keep this extremely short: No matter how big a fan of C, S, N and/or Y you are (as I have been for 40+ years)... Do NOT purchase this "whatever it is". It's insulting on every level; including actual insults to an adoring crowd for not clapping in perfect unison and in perfect time. I tried to find some redeeming value in the raw, casual performance, etc. to justify spending money on this "whatever it is", but could not. Buy something by anyone else, instead. You're sure to enjoy it more.

Another reviewer has mentioned the greed involved in adding three "Bonus Tracks" that you can ONLY buy if you buy the full album. That is, for someone like me who owns the actual CD and might want the three extras, I've got to buy the whole thing again. Only here's the kicker: the three bonus songs aren't even from the same SHOW. The album is from a show in very early 72 right about the time of their first solo record. And it was an all acoustic show. I was in the audience. I know. The three bonus tracks feature a full band and "Homeward Through The Haze" would place it at around 74 or 75. So when you talk about greed, throw in cynicism too. And in the parlance of the era: Whadda Ripoff! (by the way, the acoustic show is beautiful. Well worth having. Still...)

First of all, I love just about every piece of music that Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young has put out, separately & together...and I love this recording, which I bought as a CD when it finally was "legally" released in 1997 on Grateful Dead Records. I just don't understand the greed behind re-releasing the very same recording, with three "bonus tracks", only to make people that have supported C&N all these years buy the entire recording again to get these three bonus tracks. Not that I need another version of TYC, DV & HTTH, but being a sick fan and somewhat a "completist", I would at least like to have the option of buying these tracks without having to purchase something I already have. C'mon, C&N, please give us a break and allow us to download these tracks on their own! Five stars for the music, one star for the greed!!
