This was the album that got me into this band when I was 15. I’d never listened to them before and picked it up on a whim at a record store. I immediately loved this thing from start to finish after giving it a full spin. The sound of the band was so visceral and heavy with that gritty Southern undertone to it. While this may be the heaviest record Clutch has ever put out, it still contains a lot of comedic songwriting. If you want to hear another side of Neil’s songwriting then check out this album. The lyrics are humorous, insane, even a little melancholy and haunting at times. When I listened to the band’s later work I wasn’t disappointed, but shocked at how they’d changed to a blues/funk rock sound. Transnational Speedway League will always be my #1 Clutch album not only because it was my introduction to the band but because it really stands out in their discography from the other albums. If you’re new to this band or want to hear another side of Clutch then buy this ! Also if you enjoy this make sure to buy Clutch - Pitchfork and Lost Needles.

this album is a changing point. it set's the stage to perform for eternity. neil is a genius and the band exposes the human weakness for all of us to hold our jaws as they drop. this album is in my top 15 all time. Tunechi.
  • Not as good as Self Titled Clutch

This is good but they're crown jewel is their next release self titled Clutch. With tracks like Escape From the Prison Planet, Animal Farm, Spacegrass and Seven Jam you will be rockin for a good long time. And their lyrics are way better in that one especially Animal Farm and Prison Planet.

This is the best Clutch album in my opinion. Neals vocals are one of a kind. Buy it moron.
