Are you Experienced - 1967 Growing up I remember some of these songs getting air play and realizing there was no one else out there sounding quite like this . In retrospect after listening agin to these songs the album should have been called " Are You Kidding Me " . So many great songs on this record ; a plethora of sound and imagination . Red House / Purple Haze / Hey Joe /Can you see me / Fire / Foxy Lady /The Wind Cries Mary / Love or Confusion / Stone Free / Are you Experienced . Not only were these musicians each great in their own right but brought this sound together as one in a very short amount of time ................... Am I experinced ? I am now and for ever .

...goes to London and gets a band together. They create this record which is the most revolutionary album ever...Then, on May 12, 1967, this is released and nothing would ever be the same. If you don't have this, WHY NOT??
  • The Gold Standard

Whenever the subject of the electric guitar comes up the name Jimi Hendrix will always be the first name associated with the instrument. Even nearly 50 years after his death his music is still in regular rotation on FM radio and he is still the gold standard for any guitar player. And this album personifies why that is. Many of the monster hits we all know are here as well as my particular instrumental favorite “ Third Stone from the Sun “ Even when I was a little kid when he died I knew we would never see anyone like him again.

Hendrix’s greatest musical asset, alongside his effortless talent, was his musical sense of freedom. Listen closely to this album and you’ll find its one of a very few things you can listen too and feel free. Jimi’s wasn’t in it for money or fame…he was on a journey, and he wanted everyone in the world to be able to share in what he was finding. In short, this album is well worth your money and ALSO exhibits the absolute god of drumming that is Mitch Mitchell, that man is so underrated.

I remember being 11 or 12 when I first heard this album my older sister bought. Being a budding guitarist I could only dream of playing some of his music. Over the years I keep coming back to this and shake my head and wonder how one man could do so much in such a short time. His inventiveness on guitar is clearly matched by his songwriting and his soulful and thoroughly mesmerizing voice. Now that I have years of practice and training I am more impressed by some of the less popular songs like I don't Live Today and Love or Confusion. The amazing and sometimes relatively simple guitar lines he created are absolutely masterful. He could play anything from thoughtful and sublime to shear mind- blowing pyrotechnics.

Hey, I like Beach House. I’ve bought something by them from this store. At the top of their page, they have one of your attractive little photo headings to introduce the rest of their page of albums, singles, etc. So Beach House has one of those attractive headers but nothing for Jimi? I’m going to assume that you just haven’t gotten around to it, or it’s an oversight on someone’s behalf in your marketing section. Because otherwise, it means that you are unaware that this album, Are You Experienced, changed the entire face of guitar playing in the rock world, just utterly re-wrote the book on what could be done on the instrument, and undoubtedly altered all guitar playing with the exception of classical, which by definition, must remain as it is written on the page. Maybe it’s a licensing issue and you can’t run a pic of Hendrix without paying the entity which licenses the rights for you to sell his music. I'm guessing Apple can afford it. Pay them. Put a slick header on the top of the page so kiddies checking him out can see what a real rock god looks like in all his glory. Editorial over.
