Reviews

  • Good show. Weird sound

As everyone says, good 77 show, kind of tinny sound. So there are about 5 or 6 great 77 shows to buy before this. But if you’re a Deadaddict aka Deadhead, as I am, you’ll need this one too, so why r we debating?
  • Labor Day Weekend 1977

I was at this show at Englishtown NJ Raceway Park on Labor Day weekend 1977 just before heading back to Georgia Tech for my last fall quarter. This was one of the best Dead shows I have attended! The whole band is super tight! And Terrapin Station had just been released. It was an all weekend party with about 150,000 other DeadHeads! A truly magical time. Jerry was at his peak I think! Peace! What a long strange trip it has been...
  • Worth it for Not Fade Away alone

First set is ok, but the second set...WOW. As mentioned in the title, the NFA is not to be missed. Probably my fave version of that song

I partially agree with the reviewer who said the sound is a little weird. It does seem so at first, because it sounds different than other Dicks Picks. However, this is not a bad thing. Every single one of the instruments comes through clearly, even Keith, and I think he is consistently underamplified. This is a really good night for him too, he's playing on time and with those same sort of powerful licks that characterize Keith's performances in 1972-3. Phil is loud and out front and can be heard very clearly, which is awesome. Jerry is absolutely on fire this night too. I can't really list highlights because almost every sing is the Grateful Dead in top form. I don't really get off on TLEO or Friend of the Devil (the only Dead song of which I've always like the studio version better than the slow live version) In my opinion, this is the best Terrapin Station and best Peggy-O I have heard. Get it
  • Very solid

There is some grate playing here despite a few vocal mistakes. All of the songs seem to have an odd feel to them. The sound is slightly rough for a 77 pick. Bertha on is really good. The first set is a little average but still very good. This one is worth your time and money but get DP 3,29, 10 before this one/

We all know that the release of Terrapin Station blasted a new sound of The Grateful Dead into a new standard. This show has to be one of single greatest shows done the band that year, next to Cornell. Great Selection of songs offered, from mid-set Mississppi to the powerful Terrapin Encore, this show is oen of the highest regarded Dicks Picks, along With Pembroke Pines 1977 and Boston Garden 1991.
