I have all 36 volumes, and this one is my favorite. Nearly every song is a standout version. Another amazing Grateful Dead show from 1972.

15 years old-went to this show with an older college age cousin. My life was changed forever-[might have been that piece of orange 'candy' I ate?] I wish they were still around so I could take my 13 year old grandson to a show [minus the orange 'candy'!]
  • Jazzgrass MLB Jam

Garcia comes out of the space of dark star into MLB jam sounding like he's pickin on a banjo. Your mind will leave your body when you hear it. It's one of the most amazing moments in Dead history!

This is great free form jazz, blues, rock, etc. So happy I purchased this volume. 1972 was a great year for the Dead, and this is very clear in this performance. Great quality, by the way. If you enjoy creative, artistic, and far-out musical expression by some of the world's greatest musicians, check this out! If anyone wants to suggest their fav Dead show, I would appreciate your input.

who doesnt love a lengthy bird song? the ill-fated keith godchaux is actually the highlight during this number and im thankful for a rare showcase of his real talent. the mellow pace of the first half of the lp gives way to charged rockers. once again, the 72 dead deliver.
  • Two words: DARK STAR

oh yeah; the dark star here is worth the price of the whole pick. probably the best of 1972 and one of the best ever: long and spacey, and then all hell breaks loose about 20 minutes in. it concludes with an awesome MLB jam and seemless transition into a grate morning dew. the rest of this show is really really soild too. railroad, big river, ramble, cumberland, truckin, and sugar mag are all really hot. and one of the best and most haunting black peters in my book. am awesome show and highly highly recommended.
