perhaps and then again

Perhaps and then again, you could say, not as spiral or as gritty as the first one but then again, artists must evolve through problems (for as the iTunes reviewer mistakes a theremin for what was actually Tom Verlaine's switchblade on the strings of his Jazzmaster - true story, so problems with the white horse and its rider delayed the transmission). Nonetheless, this was a full birth and not a partial dream. Though at the time it did not seem to lift over the horizon, in pale retrospect it gleams a diamond in the coal of the past, strange myrrh waiting to burn and sweeten the air.
Brilliant....

The second studio recording by one of the finest guitar bands in the history of American music. Tom Verlaine is a bold stylist and an incandescent musical force. Of course, it is excellent...although "Adventure" is mostly delicate, dreamy tunes in a wondrously refined environment, there is plenty of restless energy beneath the surface. Gorgeous...and "Days" is better than anything on "Marquee Moon"...
That's it!?

I can't believe there are only 32 likes (at time of writing) on this record! What a masterpiece!

Television made history with their classic debut "Marquee Moon", so coming up with a sophomore effort must have been a daunting task. In fact, this album was considered a major disappointment when released in '78. However, I would have to disagree. I admit it didn't grab me as immediately as "Marquee Moon" did but over time I came to love it. "Foxhole" is just ridiculously catchy. "Days" and "Glory" are more sedate but both are majestically wonderful and beautiful. Tom Verlaine is an amazingly gifted songwriter and one of the best guitarists to emerge in the 70's in any genre. I think any Television fan who may have missed this the first time round should give it a second chance.
