Indeed a beautiful masterpiece. Enough said.
  • Metheny Revisited through the soulful heart of Poland

Upojenie's voice is an exquisite match for Metheny. It reminds me of the years he had Nana Vasconcelos singing with him, stretching the expression of the song to new heights. Upojenie's inventions are beautifully executed with a crystal clear tone that never wavers from the intent of the composition and yet at the same time takes a familiar Metheny tune and expands it's meaning. I'm not a fan of the songs that incorporate the saxaphone. Those are a little too "soft" for my tastes but I love the rest of the album. A great mix of the folk influence and Metheny's compositions. An amazingly beautiful collaboration!

This is a review for this song only. This is possibly his best piece, and what a fabulous variant this is!

This is an astonishing album. When I bought "Off Ramp" the first time back in the vinyl days I quickly wore out the track with "Are You Going With Me?" And 25 years later it's even better than ever on this album. Metheny is the greatest and this collaboration is sublime.

What a nice ride! An entirely new exploration of some of Pat Metheny's work and some new gems. Anna Maria Jopek's voice is beautiful, and the musicianship is outstanding!
  • Warning: NOT the same CD as the original Warner/Universal's release

First of all, this CD not only sounds different (the sound quality of the original CD is much better than that) and looks different (the cover of this CD is actually the 2nd page on the original CD while the beautiful front page artwork is completely missing here) but also the extra disc preview for Jopek's solo CD "Nienasycenie" with such brilliant, awesome songs as: "If You Love Someone Else Forget Me" and "Don't Know Where I Know It From" is not here, instead you get 3 new songs, go figure! The download version doesn't mention credits for all the wonderful musicians such as Mino Cinelu, Leszek Mozdzer, Pospieszalski Brothers, Cezary Konrad, the Festival String Orchestra (I suspect the same one Krystian Zimerman put together a few years ago.) Most of them graduated from the Katowice Academy of Music (the region of Poland where Basia comes from) and played with many American stars at the annual festival "Jazz Jamboree" in Warsaw, (not to mention touring the world.) They know Pat Metheny's music inside out and are well qualified and able to take it to a completely new level of creativity. P.S. Check out Jopek with Kayah on MTV Unplugged.

One word sums up this album - "Priceless"!
  • Stirring to say the least - and 3 new tracks

To call this beautiful and stirring is to undersell it. This is one of Pat's finest recordings, and Jopek's voice is haunting, whether you can understand her words or not. This re-release contains 3 new tracks (numbers 7, 16 and 17) so if you have the original recording, just add those 3. If you don't own it, and are a PM fan, you should download it without hesitation.
