I can’t understand those who dislike this album. Music, of course, is subjective. We all like different types. And if you don’t like this album, you are in fact different and not to be liked.

THE underrated gem of Bruce’s albums … better than HT by a long shot

Should I fall behind, was my first "our song" I ever had. She wanted it to be ours. The troubles my girl and I had been going through forever made it that way. I thought it was appropriate. I'm not with her anymore. Now it's real sad. I miss her terribly.
  • Not The Best , but still good

I think this album and Human touch were nt as quality albums as in the 70's and 80's but that doesn't mean they aren't good albums. Human Touch was the pop album of the pair and Luckytown was the more rockish album. The better songs are Better Days, Luckytown, If I should fall behind, and Leap of faith.

I only like three of these tracks (Better Days, Lucky Town, If I Should Fall Behind) so I wouldn't say this is best work by far. OK ALBUM.

I'm giving this three stars because it's Bruce. But come on. This is one of his lowest. Human Touch and Born To Run are his best, I highly recommend those. But The Boss rocks FOREVER!
  • One OF Springsteen's Best

And that's saying a lot. This album has a variety of styles and moods but predominently the approach is subdued. However, "Better Days" rocks out with a great positive message and feeling. It's the kind of song that will always pick you up when you're down. "Lucky Town" continues in that vein. "If I Should Fall Behind" and "Book of Dreams" are wonderful wedding day songs. If you don't want to buy it all, you can't go wrong with those songs.
  • Very good Bruce album

A bunch of great and underrated songs, album might have gotten lost due to the fact that it's linked with the album "Human Touch" released at the same time, which is a much weaker effort.
  • Good but ignored

Taking that this album was released the same day as Bruce's "Human Touch" album. It was deeply overshadowed. It has some of the best material by Mr. Springsteen and you would be a fool to not buy it.
  • Underrated

Many view the 92/93 stint with the "other band" as Bruce's lowpoint, but this album is filled with great songs. "If I Should Fall Behind," possibly is one of the best and most beautiful loves songs. Other great rock tracks are Better Days, Lucky Town, Living Proof, and Souls Of The Departed.
