  • Another One!

Just when ya start to think hmm will it live up to the band & their abilities, I had to remember who I was talking about. They made ANOTHER great one! It may take a couple plays for you to get fully into it but they’ve really put it together. The horns on tracks 7 & 11 are incredible. I’ve seen them three times this year having heard a lot of these songs last year & watched them grow. The covers they’re doing live are unreal, heck they opened with Zeppelin in Detroit which was something I haven’t seen in YEARS! I wish you all good health & happiness, hope this album helps get you there. On to the next concert & some more great jams.
  • We all get older

Many of the bands I love and have listened to over years are in the same situation DMB is. Clearly they could spend the rest of their lives playing sold out live shows, but there is this desire to keep making new music. But the truth is whatever magic they had for the first 3-4 albums was a long time ago. They are older now, more aware of issues and influence that go along with being wealthy and middle aged. Having kids brings awareness and responsibility and perspective. And experiencing the death of a friend brings humility. All of these things are what makes being alive so wonderful but they do take away some of the hunger and focus they had when making great music. Some of these songs sound familiar, some sound comfortable, some sound humble… There is nothing here that is going to win an award. It will be interesting to hear how these songs evolve live this summer. And this isn’t just a DMB issue, have you listened to the last handful of Jack Johnson or U2 albums? Same thing. I still bought this album to support DMB and plan to give it more listens while on vacation next week.

Love Dave and the rest of the band but this album gets 4 stars because it’s so short! We wait so long for new music and to have it so short makes you feel left hanging…
  • Absolute trash

If you are a long time fan and you say that you love this album, you are 100% living in denial. This band stopped being relevant around 15 years ago and absolutely can only get by on their back catalog. I for one have tapped out on this band and did several years ago after decades of total and complete obsession. With each passing album it is very apparent Dave’s days as a top song writer and long behind him. I’m cool with bands evolving, but this is just terrible, unlistenable music that only the most die hard of fans can enjoy. And I apologize, but if you’re still following this band like it’s 1998 or 2008 for that sake, you need to grow up and move past college. I’ll remember the good old days fondly, but please stop acting like this guy is god. He’s a very average song writer and guitarist at the very best. And bring back Boyd, the guy is a mess and there is a thing called forgiveness. Stop being so pc!

While there are a few decent songs on here like Madman’s Eyes, Break Free, and Monsters, there are other tracks, like Something to Tell My Baby, that just seem to lack personality. Overall it’s a good album and a better than the previous entry in their library.

From start to finish this is an amazing listen. The band as it sits today is well represented by this album! There could always be more Jeff 🎷.

How did this guy ever got a recording contract ?This guy is awful. He is not a very good musician. Take some lessons, do some listening. Some so-called “Rock’’ being put out today is just horrific !

I'd heard about half these songs live and liked them all, but it's so interesting to hear the studio versions. My favorites so far are Madman's Eyes, The Only Thing, Break Free and It Could Happen. Can't wait to hear them all live, which is always the best way to listen to DMB. They are always amazing live and these will be great additions to the shows.
  • I want to like this new DMB effort...

I've listened to the album fron to back 3x now. I really want to like it, but I can't fully commit to saying I do. I'm all for a band evolving and/or trying new sounds, mixing techniques, etc. I don't buy into the critics bashing Dave for working outside of the box so many have put them in. There are some decent tunes here, but no real flow on the album as a whole. It's good background music, but nothing truly stands out.
