It’s boring. It’s great musically and all that. If I heard this playing somewhere I wouldn’t have though it was mars Volta at all. That’s why I don’t like it. Not because it’s “soft”. It just sounds like a super mellow boring electronic infused piece of music.

A complete change of pace when compared to previous albums, but everything was so thoughtfully and tastefully done.

A new refreshing take, while maintaining who they truly are

The Mars Volta are evolving beautifully. I think the album is excellent.

If you listen to their earlier work you'll understand where this came from just listen to their song Televators. This is a brilliant album and it's totally "The Mars Volta". Yes do artists expand and yes it's not always great, however, this is a great album. Good job!

Still experimental and funky. Still loaded with lyric lines that and transport and evoke paragraphs. This is a truly interesting treat to be greeted with after so long. I actually really enjoy that they weren’t afraid to get pop-y with it and instead just elevated what pop can be while still being The Mara Volta. I look forward to taking this all in.
  • A groovy progression for the band

I really the enjoy the new album, although it doesn’t sound like Frances the Mute, it reminds me of it. It’s a slower slower pace and more chill vibe than we’ve heard from TMV’s last few albums. It seems like as they’ve gotten older and more mature, so has their music. I highly recommend giving it 3 or 4 listens! The listen more, lol! It keeps getting cooler and cooler.
  • 👋🏼 Unexpected, softer, masterpiece

Wow very “nu”, its not a 50 min jam session, its grown men making unique songs and beats to fit their own maturity level, I can’t wait to listen to this again

Haunting, melodic and melancholy, but still very much Mars Volta. The songs are rife with killer hooks and off kilter surprises, but these offerings are musically tighter, lyrically more mature, tonally consistent, and emotionally riveting. I can’t stop listening.
