Of the first 7 Pearl Jam albums (which are all incredible) this is the toughest nut to crack. While not immediately catchy, it greatly rewards multiple listens. The "Habit" outro might be the best moment in the band's entire catalog.

I had a bad feeling going into this album. Yet, some of these slower tracks , not what I usually prefer, are great. Tracks like Lukin, Hail,Hail, and Habit add to the odd theme of this album and show Pearl Jam's true talent- Alternative Grunge. The best type of Seattle Sound. Good album, not worth 10$, wait for the price to drop. If you like PJ's soft ballads, this is the album for you.

I had the privilege of seeing this entire album played in order live in Moline, IL last month on the Lightning Bolt tour. It was phenomenal to say the least! Do yourself a favor and pick this one up if you don’t already have it. After a few listens, you’ll realize how great it is from start to finish. It has definitely stood the test of time - 18 years since it’s release and it’s still so impressive. Personal favorites are Red Mosquito, In My Tree, and Present Tense.

This album is a departure from the bands sound. Lots of variety here. So glad I took the time to listen.

When this album was first released, PJ fans were angry because it wasn't as hard and fast as their previous albums. But just because it's not hard and fast doesn't mean it's not good. Off He Goes is an amazing song. Who You Are and Present Tense are also very good slower songs. It's not a flawless album though, and it's still not as good as Ten or Vs., but it's still pretty awesome. The songs that are fast aren't very good though. Hail, Hail, Habit, and Lukin aren't great. I don't even really consider Lukin a song. Buy this album.
