  • Beautiful!

I know very little about Japanese pop music, and came across this album almost by mistake, but wow, is it beautiful. The mix of ancient, traditional instruments with modern ones is really lovely. Some songs are new agey in a big, Kitaro way, others are more delicate, like Midori, and there are some true pop tracks, too. A very refreshing mix!

This album is great, it combines beautiful traditional with modern. The songs range from a enigma type sound to pop. Don't pass this one up! This album inspired me to pick up all their albums!

This Japanese trio uses what they call "the thousand year old souls" of traditional instruments to make pleasant, cleansing pop and etheral mood pieces. The soothing, plucky-stringed song "Anti-Hero" with Lisa Loeb is how I discovered them. I love the fairy tale ending where instead of Happy Every After, "the whole kingdom was chillin." It is the most upbeat, accessible song on the disc. Some of the songs do get a little too expansive and ambient for my tastes. Kinda Enya on Depressants at times. But the Loeb vehicle and the three songs with Leigh Nash of Six Pence None the Richer, are very nice.
