This album is a “5 time listen”, as in, every time I listen, I catch something new and appreciate more of the nuance and heart that went into it. You can tell that lots of love and thoughtfulness went into Daddy’s Home. Annie hits another home run. 💖

Have enjoyed this album tremendously. Many people point to Down as best track but I lose myself listening to Live in the Dream. She continues to experiment, showing a musical courage that reveals an ever increasing confidence. Refreshing!

I found when listening to St. Vincent's music you can never judge her music from just one listen. For me, if I like the song initially, I'll grow to love it the more I hear it. If I don't care for it that much at first, I'll almost always grow to like it and at least appreciate the creativity and immense talent behind it. Such is the case with this album and the songs within. When I first heard "Pay Your Way in Pain," I wasn't an instant fan of it. However, it grew on me. "Live in the Dream" is so different, but beautiful, softening some of the edges the other songs create. The more I listen to this album, the more I like it, on the way to loving it.
  • This is her Mellow Gold

Down should be the first track on the album. The rest reminds me so much of Mellow Gold by Beck. I like the mellower stuff just expected more surprises.

I really like St Vincent/Annie, but this album isn’t it. I don’t know what or why, it’s just not a good sound. It’s kinda hokey. Makes me sad.
