I have been a huge fan of Ray's sound since 2014's 'Supernova'. Psychedelia fits his voice and sound perfectly. After the last 3 albums have had such a sound, 'Monovision' decides to travel back to more folksy territory - which could have worked out really well. However, this album is somewhat of a letdown compared to his earlier work. The songs don't really have a shine to them. Standouts for me would be "Roll Me Mama, Roll Me" and "Weeping Willow". A good album for chilling to, but not much else.

I am a little embarrassed to admit that I’ve only now just listened to the album, though I purchased it awhile ago.
As a longtime fan who just hasn’t had the same feeling toward what Ray’s been making lately, I just wasn’t that excited to hear his newer stuff right now. Not really a criticism, just preference.
Then I sat down today at my messy kitchen “desk” and started listening. Listening, LISTENING... and then I thanked the gods for bringing me medicine.
I’m on track 4.
This album HEALS MY WEARY SOUL.
Love this joyful/melancholic feeling ... as it is life.

Ray's music & lyrics embody the emotional range of the human condition. As a child of the '60s, I adore Ray's music. yeah, sure I hear the musical influences of Ray's upbringing!... they and he are the best of the best. The "young" must also feel the beauty of "Monovision."
I live on the Coast of Maine, it's a warm summer's day, and these extraordinary melodies fit perfectly.

Wow Ray....you are amazing and this album is fantastic. I had to buy this after listening to you on the Writer’s Block on Sirius. Bravo! I missed the first half of the program, but I believe you said this entire album was created just by you. No mixers, nothing. You deserve a Grammy like Sturgill. There’s no doubt.

I have been a fan since Ray first started recording, each work has its own feel and tempo, but this is without a doubt his best work to date. I feel a return to his roots, but it is evident he has grown, and developed a deeper sound. LOVE THIS ALBUM.
