  • Quick ride but worth every minute

Everyone is complaining about how “poppy” or “mainstream” they have become but album 1XX is beautifully balanced from start to finish. The dancing bass line from Complainer starts on the journey with a bright burst of energy that turns into a soulful raw croon stripped down to piano and willets croon over a glimpse of life on the road and his love in Beyond the Pale. Transitioning into a Falsetto gripped Dirt in my Eyes you can’t help but move your body to the beat and guitar hook. Through Cold War Kids career, they have tested the waters with different sounds and directions while staying true to their purpose which attracts invites you in the first place....genuine soul. No matter how good a book is you will eventually tire of it after numerous reads. I’m glad and grateful that Cold War Kids has pushed their boundary and sound giving the band member changes all the while staying true to themselves and creating genuine, raw, real music and for that I applaud them as well as thank them! Well done on New Age Norms 1XX. Can’t wait for the next 2 albums and after!
  • Evolution of CWK

This band has shown evolution in their sound. They’re evolving as musicians, I’m evolving as a listener. I really enjoy the progression. Complainer feels like a natural take on growing up with MJ influence and a social commentary about the value of action; and I enjoy it. Calm your nerves is classic CWK doing what they do, all the vocal Hook’s you want Nathan to indulge in, Dirt in my eyes is another irresistible upbeat gem. Fourth of July is my high water mark for this set. It’s the old CWK and the integration of new insights. 2:40- And I know now, that I wouldn’t be here with you, if somebody up there wasn’t looking out for me. This band keeps it interesting and keeps growing. When they do it right, it’s really good, Just a humble fan opinion.

  • What happened?

Robbers and Cowards, and Loyalty to Loyalty, and their EP, Behave Yourself were some of the best alt records from that era. I know that was over a decade ago, but I never saw this musical descent coming. What happened CWK?

How dare he compare Bon Jovi's sacred "Wanted Dead or Alive" with this "Pale" song. I mean, not even close to anthemic in any world... Decent song, but...

It’s amazing how bad their music has become. Every album has gotten exponentially worse.

I bought the EP w/ “Complainer” and “4th Of July” 2/8 songs and I still gotta pay full price for this album 🤦‍♂️. But the songs are fire 🔥 and 4 stars
