Why I am the first person writing a review here is mind-boggling. First off, Wallace is a tremendous artist. It's not the technique alone, it's his expressive playing. A huge fan of Miles and Lee Morgan, Wallce came out of the Greatest Jazz Teacher's school - ART BLAKEY - and went into Tony Williams Quintet. When he dated Cindy Blackman, they went on their own paths a few years later, they recorded on each others albums for The Muse Label. Those are all worth seeking out to know Roney better. He has many recordings on the High Note Label in the last 20 or so years, but this one has has nephew Kojo Roney, Wallace's brother Antoine's son. Kojo delivers the goods and I am predicting at my 60 years of age that this fine, young man's recording here will become noteworthy in time. I applaud Wallce for this album and his passing of the educational torch he learned from Art so long ago on! Well done Wallace, I miss not talking to you on FB, but it got all too political for my liking. BUY THIS ALBUM...IT SWINGS!!!!!
