I’ve been a big fan of these guys since the first time I heard Hang me out to dry, We Used to Vacation, and many more. It took a few listens to really appreciate these songs; but I dig it. Keep evolving, keep improving, and thank you for your art. 4th of July is underrated; listen to the whole song.

I keep giving them more and more chances, and this has officially sealed the final nails. Gone are the days of the interesting and quirky indie rock band that gave us gems such as Hospital Beds, St. John, Every Man I Fall For, We Used to Vacation, etc. and now are the days of bland, generic, Maroon 5 wannabe pop. It’s a real shame because they used to be special, and now they’re lost in the crowd of used to be greats like Fitz and the Tantrums.
I’m all for bands evolving and changing their sound, but changing it to sound like every other band on top 40 radio isn’t an evolution, it’s trying to fit in.

I love The Cold War Kids. Have all their stuff. I’ve seen them live. But, this single “Complainer” is too fancy-y for me. I like their more Indie Rock sounding stuff like Audience, We Used To Vacation. First, Louder Than Ever, Hot Coals, Hang Me Up To Dry, Drive Desperate, Something Is Not Right With Me, etc. I still love these guys but this song is not my fave.
