  • Where IS Derek’s signature Slide Magic???

Not sure who felt is was a good idea to minimize Derek Trucks on this album? While some songs succeed via Susan, ALL would benefit by a remix/rearrangement in the true TTB style we have come to love 🤔 This release just doesn’t pack the punch and fire of all previous TTB outings😔 Hopefully when performed LIVE Derek will step back into his spotlight with slide magic🎸

This album is a beautiful legacy that truly honors this amazing band and Kofi’s contributions in it.

An album of subtlety and emotion, with lyrics that matter. There are still the rich instrumentals of top line musicians and the incredible voice of Susan Tedeschi, Mike Mattison et al that populate all of their prior work. Derek Trucks, perhaps the greatest living slide guitarist going, isnt absent but his contributions are measured and blend and mesh with the song and its purpose. If you are looking for a Derek fest, this might not be for you. That said, it is a beautiful, well executed work with a maturity not seen much these days. I cannot emphasize this enough, as a fan of TTB and DTB, if you have not seen them in person, do so. It is the best way to truly hear the brillance of 12 top flight musicians.
  • Did Derek forget to plug in?

Love this band, but lets be honest, there is not nearly enough Derek on this album. Why can't this band ever capture the fire in the studio that they have on stage?
  • Just like the rest of TTB's music

It is truly an amazing album, full of soulful singing by Susan Teduski and amazing guitar playing by Derek Trucks and their growing band of piano, wind instruments, singers, it brings the music almost to a 3rd dimension with all the elements playing together. Saw them live and will never forget, this album sounds as if I am back at the Beacon Theatre in NYC.

I don't usually keep listening to new albums, but this one begs that. Very soulful and the best playing by Derek Trucks I've ever heard. Early best album of 2019.

Instructions: 1) play this gem of an album several times. 2) play it more 3) listen to Susan’s voice, emotion, soul, 4) listen to Derek’s guitar cry out 4) listen to the an album done by an entire band without any ego, 4) listen to words and the pain and message. Follow these directions and you will hear what is right up there with TTBs other gems. This is an emotional, soulful, well written, moving, collaborative, thoughtful piece of work written as a team from the heart trying to express a tough year +. Horn, back vocals, Susan and Derek all show up and pour their heart into this. It’s not their other albums it’s Signs and I dig it big time. TTB Rick on! R.I.P. Kofi, you are missed already.

Possibly the best set of songs on any TTB album, and the playing and recording is stellar. Fantastic album.
