I just found Janiva and her cover of Nina Simeone's," Do I Move You", leaves me feeling like she just made love to me! The pulse pounding bass lines, the steel piercing lead work and her vocals. WOW what a set of pipes, and when she moans, oh my God! Then the cover of "You Were Never Mine", few people can do a cover of some else's stuff and leaving you wondering who did it best, but she does and in a big way. Everything else on the disc is also super, I just love her, she could talk me into leaving home!

Janiva Magness has one of those voices that just makes you want to listen. It is a soulful, sultry, and sexy instrument. When the material doesn't hold up, her voice and confident delivery carry the day. Favorite cuts include the rocker "I'm Just A Prisoner", the soul of "You Were Never Mine" and the front porch blues take "Don't Let Your Memories". "Do I Move You?" is a solid effort that should garner some buzz. It blurs the line between rock, blues, and soul, and that's just the way I like it. Recommended.
