Kamasi, you’re awesome. I’ve been going through deep, meditative moments in this season of my life and really am in awe & blessed of how intriguing and contemplative I can be - when drawing on a simple meditation on your music. It offers me great clarity.
  • He’s brilliant.

This brotha is a master. I haven’t felt this since I first heard A Love Supreme. It’s a honesty in his music that can bring you to tears.
  • I Get It- but, why all the hype?

So many great reviews here? Nothing that I hear on the 13 minutes of jazz would warrant all the glory proclaimed. It seems the drummer is not the rhythmic center of the group and usually works “around” the piano’s steady and more focused timekeeping. Kind of a distraction in the samples that I have heard. No- this is not to be compared to Miles or Coltrane.

I love this album, i bought Truth and from then I was just filled with anticipation for the release of this album. I put the album on repeat at work when its time to focus and block out the noise. This album is a classic in my opinion that will stand the test of time and continuous playing.
  • An epic in and of itself

One of the greatest jazz musicians of our generation, and one of his most amazing albums. Definitely worth a buy.
  • I don't get it

    A) What is supposed to be so special about a guy basically doing a combined ripoff of the "Coltrane" album and Getz/Gilberto ? B) How badly do they need to cover up how he sounds with all the Phil Spector-ish over-producing?

All the tracks are gorgeously arranged like a case of two dozen perfect long stem roses. Any color; just beautiful to listen to and awesome.
  • It's pretty good.

Well, I must say his way of expressing , conveying his music is so spectacular. The stories these tunes tell without words, the refrain you cannot help humming to yourself . What musician in the jazz scene today with just his limited body of work can you honestly say should be compared to the legends.not much if any! It transcends generations and is special in its own right . Should he continue to throw down like this his work will be compared not to his generation at all, but to the legends . Lateef, Sanders , Coltrane , Gordon yes it’s that great.
  • I'm speechless

I typically don't love jazz, but I am in awe of how Kamasi Washington makes it so accessible, especially on this album(ep?). Each song seems to be saying something meaningful without a single word. I'm a little confused by the repeated musical refrains from "Truth" playing in each song, but I can tell it was purposeful—and that it was not creative laziness. This release is cohesively spell-binding, chilling with a great message for the world today—that seems (to me) to be that no matter how much we disagree we must stay connected with each other, given the song's titles, especially "Truth," and 'Harmony of Difference.' Perhaps the greatest part of all this is that the music is speaking without a one lyric (like I said before). Am I the only hearing this?
