Reviews

  • I like the live material.

I appreciate the fact that STP released live material that would actually interest some fans, as opposed to just putting out 8 or 9 outtakes that nobody really wants, like Led Zeppelin did with their recent reissues.
  • Missing alot of demos and early tracks

This is a great package album with alot of great remastered songs, demos and live tracks, however, I was expecting to hear alot of the other early tracks that never made Core. I was expecting on hearing the entire demo tapes that you can easily go to youtube, type in STP rare demo tracks and get. Spanish Fly, the early version of Piece of Pie, etc. is what I was expecting to be included. It's nice to have the entire MTV Unplugged performance, but that high quality easily accessable bootleg CD I had for the past 21 years. I would of love for this to have other live performances of songs from Core from SNL, Letterman, the NYC show were they dressed like Kiss etc.

Classic album. The demos of the "mighty joe young" era of the band are definitely worth hearing. glad they finally got a proper release.

What can be said about STP's debut that hasn't been said already? Core is a masterpiece, and despite all the insults thrown at STP for supposedly imitating other Grunge artists, Core has proven itself to be a classic. I cannot fathom how anyone would say this album is aping the Seattle musicians. Pearl Jam doesn't have the testosterone to write something like Piece of Pie, or Crackerman. This is a perfect reissue. I'm just sad that Only Dying did not have a studio cut, but its great to get a high quality version of the demo. I had no idea Swing Type Thing even existed! This sounds like Scott's solo material and Talk Show. Finally, the long awaited release of MTV Unplugged tops off this wonderful deluxe edition. Even if you own Core, you should buy this album. The price is worth it. Rest Easy Scott Weiland.
