This is really an album that’s grows on you the older it gets, sure it’s hard to get into if you’re into his older stuff but I like the change and versatility he’s shown. Something to consider are his side projects like big red machine and volcano choir, more experimental stuff which I think kinda resonates with this album.

22, A Million, is one of those albums that got loads of hate from the artist’s fans. At first glance, I understood why. It is strange and hard to get used to. But after a few more listens, I have nothing but praise for this album. Discordant sounds blend together with good melodies to produce an album that is both relaxing and unsettling at the same time. The writing is surprisingly deep, and the concepts really work. Overall, this album really works. I just wish more people would give it a chance.

I literally threw this album away at a gas station an hour after purchasing it. It is the worst album I have ever heard in my entire life. To be fair I was already having a bad day but this pushed me over the edge. This album is an orgy of instruments and sounds that should never interact with each other. I genuinely enjoy many songs this artist has previously released but this was an abomination. While this review is meant to be humorous I honestly cannot understate my distaste for this album.

Sure its a huge change from his two previous albums and I get that some people would be upset in the change of sound but it is still a very solid record, you still hear his powerful unique voice through the electric sounds.

I love Bon Iver, but I didn't like this album the first couple of times I listened to it. It was so different. After I dismissed it, I kept thinking about it. I put it off, but it is now my favorite album by them. I cry actual tears when I play it, now. I'm so glad I gave this album another chance.
